On Monday 19 September, Ashhurst Health Care officially opened their doors. This is a significant milestone for the rural community in order for patients to access primary health care more easily.
The clinic is owned and operated by Feilding Health Partners, in a former house substantially rebuilt for the Ashhurst Community Trust. It will be open on weekdays from 8.30am to 5pm. Patients needing after hours or weekend care will need to access to evening and weekend clinics in Feilding.
The first week of opening we will be focusing on enrolments. There are a few ways you can enrol yourself and your family at Ashhurst Health Care. If you live in Ashhurst, Pohangina and the surrounding areas, you can enrol:
GP, Dr Paul Cooper is on site two days a week, with Stacey Pearpoint as a nurse practitioner, and Angela McEntee as a registered nurse.
A health improvement practitioner would be visiting for mental health support, and Ashhurst patients can be directed to Feilding for services including some women’s health, ear cleaning and physiotherapy care.
The village currently does not have a pharmacy, but a depot at the village dairy receives deliveries of prescribed medicines twice a week with the hopes this will be increased to a daily service.
