Our Pasifika Health Service is provided by a team of passionate Pasifika Nurses and Community Support Workers/Navigators who provide primary healthcare for Pasifika fanau.
Our team works with Pasifika fanau to reduce barriers to healthcare, increase access to health services and also support families in making good decisions about their health and wellbeing.
As well as working directly with fanau, you’ll often find us out in the community, running initiatives, and providing health checks and health talks at community events.
Run by Pasifika women, for Pasifika women, Vaka Ora Pasifika brings together a community of like-minded wahine who can support each other to tackle health concerns or make significant life changes to enhance their wellbeing. The programme runs for six weeks for Pasifika women that have a current long-term condition or who are at high risk of developing one.
This monthly programme is a community-led initiative with Papaioea Pacific Community Trust. Our Pasifika Health Service supports this initiative by providing health education, sharing different services, undertaking free health checks (and following up on any abnormal results), and networking with Pasifika kaumatua. It is always a day full of fun, with the kaumatua doing handicrafts, singing island songs, talanoa, and engaging with other Pasifika elderly from other ethnicities.
