Cervical Screening in MidCentral

Together, screening and HPV immunisation offer the most effective protection against cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be cured if identified and treated early.

All women between 25 and 69 should have regular three yearly smear (cervical screening) tests.

It’s not just GPs that offer the smear test – you can get one:

• From a midwife
• Family planning clinic
• Sexual health service
• Marae-based or Maori health providers
• Community health services such as women’s health centres
• Screening support services
  

You can request a female screen taker and you can take a support person or member of your whānau with you.

Encourage your daughters to have their HPV immunisation.
